Tuscany is a region in central Italy. Its capital, Florence, is home to some of the world's most recognizable Renaissance art and architecture, including Michelangelo's "David" statue, Botticelli's works in the Uffizi Gallery and the Duomo basilica. Its diverse natural landscape encompasses the rugged Apennine Mountains, the island of Elba's beaches on the Tyrrhenian Sea and Chianti's olive groves and vineyards.
If you saw the film "Under The Tuscan Sun" you already have the notion that Tuscany is a place of romance, wine, olives, savory cooking, and sunshine. This Italian countryside is a mix of castles, cypress trees, descending hills, and rambling vineyards. You can unwind by sipping a glass of wine or feasting on homemade gnocchi under the Tuscan sun.

Countless Americans have Italy on their bucket list! Among the Italian regions, the one they love the most is definitely Tuscany, in the central part of the peninsula. Americans love Tuscany, from delicious food to charming landscapes to art, to history (it is the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance) and culture (it is the foundation of the Italian language). "If Italy can claim Europe's most tempting cuisine, Tuscany is both its larder and its inspiration – writes Belinda Dixon in Lonely Planet Magazine
